INFO
Live show with artist Amir Yatziv and an animated avatar inspired by Franz Kafka’s 1917 short story A Report to the Academy. The avatar, Peter, who speaks and acts spontaneously through AI technologies, speaks with Yatziv his life as a former monkey, and about Peter’s journey into humanness and beyond. They also talk about bad habits and instincts, such as those you try to hide from yourself. All of this unfolds through shifts in control between actor and director, and between scripted dialogue and improvised conversation. Like in a strange road show, the performing magician brings nothing but his wild imagination and the few props he carries with him; he is in perpetual risk of losing the audience’s trust once his human flaws are exposed.
Peter is Back is not just a story about a monkey becoming human, it's a live experiment in performance. The avatar is driven by AI but shaped in real time by its interaction with a human. Every show is different, as the AI character responds spontaneously, creating a unique conversation each time. All elements on screen, from the avatar’s expressions to the visual and sound environment, are controlled live. What unfolds is a fragile and unpredictable mirror of us: a glimpse into the emotional and existential territory of artificial intelligence as it reflects, distorts, and redefines what it means to be human today.
A fragile, unpredictable mirror, showing how AI twists, stretches, and reimagines what it means to be human today.
